- Apr, 1927
- Mr Saichi Iwata, and his wife Mrs Shizu Iwata, decided to start producing wasabi, in the Okutama valley, on a commercial scale.
- Apr, 1931
- A flagship store was opened, producing wasabizuke on a mass scale.
- Apr, 1939
- The Iwata store became the command centre for Mr Iwata’s exciting new business venture, Iwasa Shouten Corporation. A new line of quality wasabi powder was launched.
- Apr, 1946
- The Tokyo branch was established. Kaneku expanded sales with an aggressive marketing plan labeled “The kitchens of the capital”.
The strategy included gaining market share in Tukiji, Kanda and Senju.

- Mr Iwata’s booming business, Iwasa Shouten Corporation, moved into a new, larger factory at today’s present address 3-866 Hinatawada Oume city.

- A drying factory was founded in Matumoto.

- Kaneku continues to expand, bringing with it the expertise of its fresh produce production, with the opening of the Nagoya office.

- Kaneku’s premium flavors are brought to Kyushu, with the birth of the Fukuoka office.

- The Japanese Cooking Federation recommends Kaneku wasabi as a preferred product.

- With steady sales and a growing customer base the Sapporo office was set-up.

- Iwasa Shouten Corporation re-branded to become the Kaneku Corporation. The vision remained the same,

- With growing demand, for Kaneku’s fresh, quality products, a new factory in Tokorochou, Hokkaido is brought online.

of kneaded wasabi for the Chinese market.

- The first HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control points) approved factory, in this industry, is opened in Japan, by Kaneku.

- The ISO9002-HACCP is acquired from JQA (Japan Quality Assurance Organization). This is an industry first.
